1 Background

3 Music
A very cheerful music, fast paced and for the chorus, extremely catchy.

Accompanying the song is very original. There are of course the classics clack-clack percussion and double-wap-doo-wa choirs in the background.
First whistled intro with a guitar chord is very original (Does Alain barrier whistling?)
The chorus is accompanied by a plucked string ensemble (guitar + banjo?) Type of music South America, punctuated by shots very serious tuba (the helicon Discount Bobby Lapointe?).
The third stanza is accompanied by a very jazzy, with trumpets (or saxes?) And chorus. one gets the impression that the orchestra accompanying the song decided to improvise and make a beef without asking his opinion the singer which continues on its side ...
4 The theme

makes me think of Las Piedras , the wretched village Clouzot's film The Wages of Fear released in 1953, based on the novel by Georges Arnaud. Las piedras village crushed heat ( In the fever that consumes me ), is located in Guatemala, and Part of the film shows poverty and a small group of Europeans stranded in this cul de sac with no return ( But why did I come here to lose myself ). they meet regularly at the cafe run by Hernandez ( this damn country / Where everyone feels a little alcohol and madness ). These Europeans have fled their country and find themselves running late Las piedras , without the means to leave. Their ambiguous relationships are very well highlighted in the film ( Everything clowns around me / Are sadder than the cold ). At the end of the second part, Mario (played by Yves Montand) the only survivor of the suicide mission, returns to the Piedras thinking of Linda, the waitress in the cafe.
